What to do In Durban.
Day Tours suggestions:

- Butterflies for Africa - Pietermaritzberg - day tour, , December is a wonderful time as it's nice and warm and all the summer plants
will be blooming. http://butterflies.co.za Pietermaritzberg is under an hour's drive from Durban.

- Ushaka Marine and sea World : right on the beach and close to the Point Yacht club beach site. One can do the Ocean walk in the safety of the aquarium, snorkel in the lagoon tube the canals, enjoy the seals and dolphins, all within the marine world. http://www.uskhakamarineworld.co.za

- Botanical gardens of Durban and Pietermaritzburg

- Umgeni Bird park on the banks of the Umgeni River, just outside of the city centre

- Phezulu Safari park with Zulu dancing traditional cuisine, snakes and crocodiles, bush drives, curios, panoramic views: virtually next door, a raptor display with Open Air Raptors - an hour’s display of the hunting and aerial abilities of Africa's raptors such as owls, falcons and kites

- Museums of which there are several, particular the Killie Campbell Museum and the Kwamhule Museum on the history of apartheid.

- Trips out to sea with the Sharks Board as they check the shark nets, also trips to the Sharks Board in Umhlanga
( pronounced Um- shh- langa ) where shark research is done. Fascinating!

- A day trip and game drive to a private reserve just outside Durban, they have a wide variety of antelope species, rhino, giraffe.zebra ,wildebeest, hippo, finish off with lunch at their restaurant and be back in Durban by the time the sailors come off the water.. Be sure to have your camera handy, as this game reserve is known as a photographer¹s delight.

- Golf, if you are a keen golfer, we have absolutely amazing courses all along the KwaZulu Natal coastline.

- Shopping - visit some of our large shopping malls, The Pavilion, The Gateway.

- Many restaurants up and down the seaboard. From a Zulu prawn braai, over looking the beach, a traditional Indian curry at the Ulindi Restaurant in the Royal Hotel, to traditional African cuisine from all over Africa at the fabulous beach side restaurant - Moyo's
